Dawn Hunt is a an American painter whose art explores the mystery, depth and complexity of the feminine spirit.   Dawn received her BFA from the University Of South Florida in 1990, her MA from The University of Central Florida in 1992 and attended the International Academy of Art (1995-97).  She furthered her art education including studying under the LA based Natalia Fabia for three years and continues to work with Kerry Vosler’s Atelier in Brandon, Florida.  As a professional artist for the past 25 years, Dawn has maintained a keen curiosity about the role of women in both the micro and the global society.  She is an advocate for promoting women and people of color in the arts and is passionate about exposing gender and ethnic bias in the art world.

Dawn Hunt’s paintings draw from her own life experiences as well as from broader issues of gender and ethnicity.  Hunt’s love of language, literature, and lyrics shows up in her work often as words both hidden and visible.  Musical influences often appear in the titles of her paintings.  Hunt has been working intensively on a body of work for the past two years entitled “Witches”.  This series, which includes three large scale works, a multi-figure piece as well as several medium and smaller works,  digs deeply into the theme of the mystical female spirit,   with a focus on the issue of power.   It asks the questions, “What is female power? How does it manifest?”  Hunt aims to show this body of work in it’s entirety in 2023.

Hunt has been active in the international art scene for the past 25 years.  Her works have been shown at the Tampa Museum Art, The International Gasparilla Film Festival where she was the featured artist for 3 years in a row.  She has shown at the Gasparilla Art Festival and created a large scale art installation highlighting the Women’s Suffrage movement at the Women’s Up Pavilion during the Republican National Convention in 2012.   In 2021, Dawn created a life size goat for the GOAT (Global Offensive Against Trafficking) She has been in countless group shows throughout the country and has had several successful solo shows.
